Nature’s havoc in Sultanpur: Storm snatched 7 lives, mourning spread in wedding house
Up news: Wednesday evening was no less than a bad time for the people of Sultanpur. A sudden strong storm and torrential rains caused such devastation in the entire district that there was hue and cry everywhere. Accidents in different areas took the lives of 7 people including two innocent children, while 21 people are hanging between life and death. At some places, huge trees were uprooted, while at other places weak walls and electric poles fell upon people causing death. This havoc of nature destroyed the happiness of smiling families in a moment.

The most heart-wrenching story of this disaster has come to light from the entire Shivvansh Dubey village of Kudwar police station area. 20 year old Mahendra Tiwari, who lives here, had returned just 10 days ago after earning money from abroad for the wedding of his sister Kaushik. There was a lot of wedding activity at home and on Wednesday evening he had to go with his family to Aliganj market with his sister’s tilak. However, destiny had other plans. Mahendra died after being hit by a suddenly fallen electric pole. In the house where the wedding procession was to take place on May 7 and the shehnaiyans were to be played, now only silence and crying sounds are heard.

Nature created havoc in Baldirai area also. 8 year old innocent Mahima was sitting in her mud house in Kasba Mafiyat, when due to a strong gust of wind, the bricks of the wall fell on her and she lost her life. Mahima was currently studying in third class and had many dreams. Similarly, another painful scene was seen in Singhani village, where 58 year old Rambaran died on the spot due to falling of a tree, while his wife was seriously injured.

A family was also scattered in Dobhiara village of Haliyapur. Here, a mud wall and roof fell on 35 year old Rita Devi, due to which she died. Rita has left behind three small children crying. At the same time, in Varandpur of Akhandnagar, an 8 year old child Sureman lost his life and two other children are admitted in the hospital. 40 year old Sushma Gupta died after a jamun tree fell on her in Bandhuakala police station area.
