Advantages and disadvantages of cesarean and normal delivery
type of delivery
There are mainly two types of delivery: cesarean and normal (vaginal) delivery. Generally, women and doctors give more preference to normal delivery because its recovery process is faster. In contrast, it may take longer for women to fully recover after a cesarean delivery. Some women opt for cesarean delivery so that they can avoid the pain of normal delivery.
cesarean delivery
In cesarean delivery, the baby is taken out through abdominal surgery. In this process, there is no pressure on the child, due to which he comes out easily.
normal delivery
During a normal delivery, the baby spends a lot of time in the birth canal, putting it at risk of oxygen deprivation.
advantages and disadvantages
In cesarean delivery, no instruments are used on the baby, which reduces the risk. However, normal delivery sometimes requires the use of instruments, such as a vacuum or forceps, to extract the baby, which increases the risk of injury to the baby.
During normal delivery, sometimes injury to the urethra or rectum may occur, which may cause women to have difficulty controlling urination later. Apart from this, there may be a problem of stretching or tearing of the vaginal muscles, which can cause problems in sexual relations in future. These problems do not occur in cesarean delivery.
The pain is less during cesarean delivery, whereas in normal delivery one has to endure the pain for several hours. Due to fear of this pain, many women prefer cesarean delivery.
Cesarean delivery reduces the risk of injury to the bladder and vagina, as well as the risk of pelvic organ prolapse. However, recovery after a cesarean delivery takes longer.
