IPL 2026: MI also fell short by 243 runs, Hyderabad defeated Mumbai by 6 wickets

Tezzbuzz Desk- In the 41st match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad performed brilliantly and strengthened their position in the tournament by defeating Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets. With this victory, Hyderabad team reached third place in the points table by winning 6 out of 9 matches, whereas Mumbai’s condition has worsened and it remains at the bottom after losing 6 out of 8 matches.

After winning the toss and batting first in the match, Mumbai Indians scored a huge score of 243 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. The team got a great start by Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton, who added a quick 93 runs for the first wicket. Jacques scored 46 runs in 22 balls, while Rickelton batted aggressively and scored unbeaten 123 runs in 55 balls.

Hardik Pandya and Naman Dheer played useful innings in the middle order, due to which the team was successful in reaching beyond 240. However, despite such a big score, Mumbai’s bowling was a complete failure.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had an explosive start to chase the target. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head changed the course of the match in the powerplay itself. Both of them put pressure on Mumbai bowlers by adding 129 runs for the first wicket. Abhishek scored 45 runs, while Head played a stormy innings of 76 runs in just 30 balls.

After this Heinrich Klaasen took the responsibility and worked to finish the match. He formed an important partnership with Nitish Reddy and then finally with Salil Arora to give the team victory in 18.4 overs. Klaasen remained unbeaten on 65 runs, while Salil made the victory easy by scoring a quick 30 runs.

Among the Mumbai bowlers, Ghazanfar definitely took 2 wickets, but the rest of the bowlers proved to be completely expensive. The failure to save even a big score like 243 runs exposed the weak bowling of the team.

This match became one of those high-scoring matches in IPL history, where even the target of 240+ was not safe. This victory of Hyderabad made it clear that their batting this season has the ability to achieve any target.
