Review of HPV vaccination campaign

HPV vaccination campaign in Karnal. A review meeting of the HPV vaccination campaign to prevent cervical cancer was organized in the district. This meeting was presided over by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, in which officers from various departments participated. While reviewing the progress of block-wise vaccination, Dr. Raiya instructed the block education officers to prepare a list of those women principals who can motivate 14-15 year old girl students to get vaccinated.


Emphasis on increasing awareness in rural areas

The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the BDPO to work with the Health Department to increase awareness about vaccination in the villages. Doctors posted at the PHC level were also instructed to communicate with the parents and girl students along with the Asha workers in those villages where the progress of vaccination is low and clear the misconceptions. He also clarified that the HPV vaccine is completely safe and there have been no reports of its side effects. The aim of the government is to ensure the safety of girls’ health.

Goals and Achievements

It was told in the meeting that till now about 3600 girls have been vaccinated in the district, while the total target is 12,938. The Civil Surgeon said that there have been no negative reports after vaccination. Deputy Civil Surgeon, Health Department doctor, BEO and BDPO and other officers were also present in the meeting. The administration has instructed all concerned departments to coordinate to speed up the campaign.
