Gill’s team defeated Kohli’s team by 4 wickets, a unique record was made in the match.

New Delhi: On Thursday (30 April 2026) at the historic ground of Ahmedabad, Shubman Gill’s team Gujarat Titans defeated Virat Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets. GT achieved the target of 156 runs in 15.5 overs. However, RCB took 6 wickets and dragged the match till the 16th over and fought till the end.

RCB’s innings, Virat Kohli failed!

Let us tell you that while batting first, RCB was all out for 155 runs in 19.1 overs. Virat Kohli made a stormy start. He hit 5 consecutive fours in one over to Kagiso Rabada. But Rabada soon took revenge by dismissing Kohli.

After this, RCB’s star middle order disintegrated. No batsman could maintain the rhythm. Arshad Khan bowled brilliantly for GT by taking 3 wickets. Rashid Khan and Jason Holder got 2-2 wickets.

RCB’s bowling pales in front of Gill’s storm

While chasing 158 runs, GT got a good start by Shubman Gill (43 runs, 18 balls, 4 fours, 3 sixes). He attacked Josh Hazlewood as soon as he arrived. Gill decided the course of the match by scoring 24 runs in the second over. It was clear that GT wanted to end the match quickly.

But Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a wonderful comeback. He kept RCB in the match by taking 3 important wickets. Romario Shepherd also took 2 wickets. Nevertheless, impact player Rahul Tewatia (27 runs in 17 balls) played with patience and led GT to victory.

Unique record made in IPL

It is noteworthy that this was the 13th time in IPL history, when 10 or more wickets fell between 7 and 15 overs in both the innings. The special thing is that this happened for the second time in the 2026 season. Earlier, this was also seen in the GT vs RR match on the same ground. However, victory in that match fell in the favor of Rajasthan.

Captain Gill’s statement

On the spectacular win in the match, Gujarat captain Shubhman Gill said, “It was a very satisfactory performance. It was a brilliant job by our bowlers to restrict the opposition to less than 160 on such a wicket. In terms of fielding, we were a bit loose and could not field well on some occasions. However, the energy on the field was overall very good and it was good to see the way the team came back united after the second over.”

Regarding his batting, Gill said that I felt that I was in my rhythm. I had a bit of luck on the first ball, but after that I quickly got into my rhythm. I was absolutely sure that today was my day and I was absolutely ready to face the bowlers.

Regarding Rahul Tewatia, who was the factor of victory, the GT captain said that Tewatia is a very important player. Very happy to see him finish the match. Overall, we lost a little more wickets than expected, but they scored good runs and every player of the team also got a chance to bat in the middle.
