The police arrived just before the wedding, checked the bride’s Aadhar card and canceled the marriage.

A minor girl was being married in a village near Rohtas district of Bihar. At the same time, the police administration arrived to stop the girl’s marriage. Where just before the girl’s marriage, the police asked for her Aadhar card, according to which the girl’s age was 17 years and 8 months. After this, the police officers stopped the marriage after convincing the girl’s family.

 

This incident took place in Malawa village of Rajpur police station area near Sasaram city, where this matter came to light on April 28. The child protection team had informed the police officers about the marriage of the minor. The officers of this team also went with the police officers to stop the marriage. The BDO officer (Block Development Officer) also explained to the girl’s family that child marriage is a crime. According to police officials, the child protection team had informed about this child marriage on April 11 itself.

There was an attempt to stop the marriage earlier also

On April 11, the child protection team had complained about child marriage in the police station, after which the police officials called the girl’s family to the police station. There the entire family was explained that child marriage is a legal crime. You may have to face legal action if your daughter gets married before she turns 18. Even after all this convincing, the girl’s family did not agree and organized the marriage in the village itself on 28th April.

 

Police officers took action to stop the marriage under the Child Marriage Prohibition Act 2010. It is clearly written in this Act that a girl cannot be married below the age of 18 years.

family members got angry

The family members became angry when the police officers stopped the marriage and they also protested against the police. However, the police officers clearly explained that if child marriage is carried out further, the family will have to face strict legal action.
