Supreme Court grants anticipatory bail to Congress leader Pawan Kheda in the case of making false allegations.

Congress leader Pawan Kheda has got a big relief from the Supreme Court in the case of making false allegations against the wife of Assam Chief Minister. The apex court on Friday (May 1) granted conditional anticipatory bail to Kheda. The court has made it clear that whenever the police calls him, Kheda will have to cooperate fully in the investigation and be present at the concerned police station.

The court has directed that Pawan Kheda will not influence or tamper with the evidence in any way. Also, they will not be able to leave the country without the permission of the competent court. The Supreme Court has also given the trial court the right to impose additional conditions if necessary.

The court also made it clear that the documents and facts mentioned while considering bail will have no bearing on the final decision of the case. The trial court will take further action independently and in accordance with law without being influenced by these observations. The hearing in this case was held on April 30. The bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice AS Chandurkar had reserved the decision after hearing the arguments of both the parties, after which this order has now been issued.

Let us tell you that Pawan Kheda had allegedly made a fake allegation that the wife of the Chief Minister of Assam has multiple passports and undeclared properties abroad. The documents that Pawan Kheda presented to the media were fake, and this was done to influence the Assam assembly elections. Following these allegations, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma filed a criminal case against Pawan Kheda and others at Guwahati Crime Branch police station under various sections of the Indian Justice Code.

It is noteworthy that on April 24, Pawan Kheda challenged the order of denial of anticipatory bail by the Gauhati High Court in the Supreme Court. Earlier, the Telangana High Court had granted him seven days’ transit anticipatory bail, but on the appeal of the Assam Police, the Supreme Court had put an interim stay on this relief and asked him to approach the Guwahati High Court.

Now after this decision of the Supreme Court, Pawan Kheda has got relief from arrest, but the hearing and investigation of the case will continue further.
