‘Half the population should get full rights’, Rajni Tiwari became vocal on women’s reservation!
Speaking on the topic ‘Continuing discussion on women empowerment’ in the second special session of the 18th Legislative Assembly in the year 2026, Rajni Tiwari said that political reservation is essential to empower half the population of the country. He expressed deep displeasure over the proposal related to women’s reservation not being passed in the Lok Sabha.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Central and State governments have taken many historic steps for the safety, respect and self-reliance of women. Referring to Ujjwala Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Kanya Sumangala Yojana, empowerment of self-help groups, toilet construction and housing schemes, Rajni Tiwari said that these initiatives have brought about a massive change in the lives of women.
The Minister said that participation of women in the three-tier Panchayat system has given positive results and now they should get adequate representation in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies also. He said that respect for women has been paramount in Indian culture and it is the collective responsibility of the society to carry forward the tradition of ‘Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devta’.
He also said that today women are more aware of their rights than ever before and government schemes are giving a new direction to their empowerment.
