Mojtaba Khamenei said: ‘American bases are paper lions, they cannot even save themselves’
Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has launched a scathing attack on America, calling the American military bases in West Asia ‘paper tigers’. He said that if these bases cannot even protect themselves, then how will they protect the area. Posting on social media platform X, Khamenei also targeted America’s allies. He said, ‘America’s paper tiger bases cannot even protect themselves, leave alone the security of American supporters in the region.’ This statement has come at a time when tension between Iran, America and Israel is continuously increasing and diplomatic efforts to reduce it are also going on.
‘Persian Gulf is our identity’
In another post, Khamenei described the Persian Gulf as not just an area of water, but a part of our identity and civilization. He said that this region is a very important route connecting countries and for the global economy. In a message issued on the occasion of Persian Gulf Day, Khamenei said that in the coming time the Gulf region will be free from America’s presence. He said that the fate of regional countries is interconnected and foreign countries sitting far away should not interfere here. He said, ‘By the grace of God, the future of the Persian Gulf will be bright, where America will not be there and this region will work for the progress and prosperity of its people.’
Claim of security of ‘Strait of Hormuz’
Khamenei also claimed to ensure the security of the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ and said that his country will respond to any ‘hostile activity’. He accused Western countries that their military presence has always promoted instability and conflict in the region. Khamenei said that recent developments make it clear that external powers are unable to maintain stability here. Iran has also sent a new proposal to reduce the ongoing tension with America. According to Iran’s government agency IRNA, this proposal has been sent to America through Pakistan. However, US President Donald Trump has indicated to reject this proposal.
