Prices did not increase for 4 years and 60 days: Hardeep Puri

Amid reports of price increase in petrol and diesel, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri had issued a statement on Friday saying that despite fluctuations in the global energy market, India has kept the prices of petrol and diesel stable for 4 years and 60 days. He further said that the global energy landscape has been affected by war, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions, including tensions over the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this, stability remained in the country.

According to him, retail fuel prices in the country have not been increased for 4 years and 60 days. Whereas, there has been a huge increase in fuel prices in neighboring countries. In some places the increase was from 39 to 66 percent. Problems like fuel shortage, rationing and limited working hours were also seen there.
