Hotel-restaurant food will now become expensive by 15%, common people will face a big shock on commercial LPG cylinders.
Lucknow/ New Delhi: The hotel and restaurant industry is facing troubles one after the other. After the supply disruption due to tensions in the Middle East, the huge increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders has further troubled the region. The price of commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 993 from May 1, 2026. With this, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder has increased to Rs 3,071.50.
Huge increase in three months
With an increase of Rs 144 in March, Rs 195.50 in April and Rs 993 in May, a total of Rs 1,332.50 per cylinder has become costlier.
industry concerns
Pradeep Shetty, vice-president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRASI) warned that due to this increase, the prices of food served in hotels and restaurants are almost certain to increase by 10 to 15 percent. He said that even this increase will not be able to fully compensate the cost.
Shetty said that many hotels and restaurants were already running with limited menu, less time and alternative fuel. Their profits will further reduce after the new price hike, which has increased the risk of temporary closure, menu cuts and job layoffs at many places.
Industry organizations have appealed to the Central Government to immediately intervene and roll back the recent increase in commercial LPG prices.
