Appointment of new chairman of Prasar Bharati
India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday informed that famous lyricist and writer Prasun Joshi has been appointed as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati. The ministry appreciated Joshi’s contribution to literature, advertising, cinema and public communication. This appointment has been made after the resignation of former president Navneet Kumar Sehgal.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav congratulated Joshi on his new post and said that he is a unique creative personality. He also said that under Joshi’s leadership, Prasar Bharati will get new energy and creativity. Joshi has played an important role in shaping Indian media discourse and is known for his deep cultural sensitivity, the ministry’s press release said.
Joshi’s work includes acclaimed film songs, advertising campaigns and stories based on social issues that connect with diverse audiences. He has also been the Chairman of the Mumbai-based Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) since August 2017. The ministry said that during his tenure, film certification processes were strengthened and he actively communicated with all stakeholders of the film industry.
The ministry statement said Joshi’s tenure at the CBFC reflects the balance between creative expression and regulatory responsibilities. Apart from this, Joshi has also been the Chief Executive Officer of McCann World Group India and President of Asia Pacific.
