Trump with the upright hand of the tax! This time 25 percent anger on the European Union
US President Donald Trump has returned to his glory after taking a break from the court battle for a few days. This time, the European Union (EU) fell under the wrath of America. A 25 percent levy has been announced on all cars and trucks imported from the EU for allegedly violating trade agreements. This new rule can be effective from next week.
The US President gave a message on this issue on his social media on Friday. There, he writes, the European Union is not complying with the terms of the trade agreement. In his message, these drastic measures are absolutely necessary to protect American industries and jobs. It should be noted that in July of last year, the trade agreement between the United States and the European Union was signed. There was a 15 percent tariff on European automobiles and parts. However, Trump claims that European countries, especially Germany, are not fulfilling that condition properly.
A 25 percent levy has been announced on all cars and trucks imported from the EU for allegedly violating trade agreements.
The new tariffs will cost European automakers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi a lot in the US market. As a result, the customers of such cars will have a huge burden in their pockets. At the same time, Trump said that no additional tariffs will apply to companies that will produce their products on American soil.
Europe has rejected Trump’s accusations that the EU has imposed tariffs on the EU for not complying with trade terms. A spokesperson for the European Commission said, “The European Union has done everything it has to do according to the agreement. The US is being regularly informed. As a result, allegations of non-compliance are unfounded. He also warned that if the US imposes tariffs unilaterally, the EU may also take countermeasures.”
