The voice of rights and struggle echoed on Labor Day

On the occasion of International Labor Day, a grand and thought-provoking program was organized in the auditorium of Baliram Bhawan, Bettiah, West Champaran, where a powerful message of labor unity, respect and struggle was seen. The program began with the laying of wreaths at the martyr’s altar, in which heartfelt tributes were paid to the martyred workers and leaders who sacrificed their lives in the labor movement. During this period, an atmosphere of respect and pride prevailed in the entire auditorium.

After this, workers working in various sectors were honored for their dedication, responsibility and loyalty towards labour. He was honored from the stage by giving him flower garlands and body clothes, which boosted the morale and enthusiasm of the workers. Those who received the honor included rickshaw laborer Subhash Mahato, Krishna Sah, Ganesh Ram, Kirit Choudhary, Zahoor Miyan, Nagina Prasad, cook leader Sunita Devi, Seema Devi, Rabeya Khatoon, farm laborer Subha Miyan, Bhutkun Mahato of Poldar union, cook union leader Lalbabu Ram, Ramashray Hazra, Shambhu Nath Mishra, farm labor leader Veeran Yadav and famous poet of the district Arun Gopal. By honoring all of them, the message was given that the role of workers is most important in building the society and their contribution can never be forgotten.

The program was presided over by Krishna Nandan Singh, while AITUC in-charge Om Prakash Kranti in his address highlighted the importance of Labor Day in detail and underlined the challenges facing the labor organizations at present. He said that in today’s era, there are many types of pressures on the rights of workers and efforts are being made to weaken the workers through new laws.

He said in clear words that in a country like India, where the workers have laid the foundation of independence through their struggle and sacrifice, the workers there are never going to bow down before the corporate forces or their supporting system. Om Prakash Kranti called upon the labor organizations to unite and fight militantly to protect the rights of the workers and to raise the voice of the workers at every level. He also strongly raised the demand for the release of labor leaders arrested in Delhi-NCR and appealed to the government to hold respectful talks with labor organizations. During the entire programme, the resolve to struggle for labor unity, protection of rights and social justice was reiterated. This event not only became a celebration of Labor Day, but also proved to be an important step towards further strengthening the labor movement in the times to come, where every laborer pledged to fight for his rights and play an active role in the new construction of the society.
