UP electricity consumers are in trouble! Yogi government gave 4 big gifts, now lights will not be cut even if the balance is exhausted

Lucknow: There is good news for crores of electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government has made major changes in the state’s electricity system, especially in the smart prepaid meter rules. With the arrival of these new rules, now consumers will neither have to face the fear of sudden power cut nor will they have to rush to recharge immediately. This step of the government is going to provide huge relief to poor and middle class families.

Balance out? No problem, electricity will be available for 30 days

The biggest change the government has made is for connections with 1 kilowatt load. Now even if your meter balance runs out, your electricity will not be cut off. According to the new rules, consumers with 1 KW capacity will continue to get electricity supply for 30 days even after the balance becomes zero. The purpose of this ‘grace period’ is so that the family is not left in the dark and can arrange for recharge in time.

Consumers will be able to use ‘loan’ up to ₹ 200

The government has started the facility of ‘overdraft’ for consumers who have connections up to 2 KW. Now 2 KW consumers will be able to use negative balance up to ₹ 200. That means, even if you have run out of money, you can still use ₹200 as electricity credit, which will be adjusted in the next recharge.

Connection will not be cut at night and holidays

It was often seen that people used to get worried when the recharge ended at night or on holidays. Now in the new system, cutting of electricity from 6 pm to 8 am has been banned. Apart from this, electricity will not be cut on Sunday, second Saturday of the month and all government holidays. The government wants that people’s daily routine should not be disturbed during festivals and rest days.

Will not disconnect, message will come first 5 times

The electricity department will no longer disconnect the connection without informing. Before power cut occurs, SMS alert will be sent five times to the consumer’s registered mobile number. These alerts will be sent at different times so that the consumer can be alert in time and recharge his meter.

Crores of people will get direct benefits

So far, about 83 lakh smart meters have been installed in Uttar Pradesh. About 67 lakh of these consumers are going to get direct benefits from this decision of the government. The largest number of these are small consumers with 1 kW and 2 kW load, who often had to face the problem of recharge and power cuts.
