Big good news in UP: Facilities of 100 urban bodies will now be better.
Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big step to give new impetus to the development of small cities and towns. In the second phase of the Aspirational City Plan, 100 urban bodies of the state have been selected, where basic facilities will be strengthened. The population of these cities ranges between 20 thousand to 1 lakh and have been identified as relatively backward areas.
How was the selection?
As per the instructions of the Urban Development Department, these bodies have been selected on the basis of performance. The cities which got low marks on various parameters have been included in this scheme by giving priority. The work in the 100 bodies selected in the first phase has been completed by March 2026, after which the second phase is now being started.
Which facilities will be improved?
Under the government plan, many important changes will be seen in these cities.
Roads and Connectivity: Construction of new roads and repair of old roads.
drainage system: RCC drains and better sewerage system to prevent waterlogging.
Drinking Water Facility: Ensuring clean and regular supply of water.
Street Lighting: Modern LED lights on streets and public places.
Cleaning and Waste Management: Improving solid waste management.
Focus on health and education also
Under the scheme, basic facilities will be developed in government schools. Also, necessary reforms will be made to make access to health centers easier, so that people can get better services.
Cities will be beautified
Attention will also be given to development of parks, conservation of open spaces and enhancing the beauty of cities in the selected municipal bodies. This will not only improve the standard of living, but will also improve the identity of the cities.
When will the work be done?
Work on all these projects will be done during the financial years 2026-27 and 2027-28. For this, municipal bodies will have to prepare their proposals and send them to the concerned department.
