After landing at Chennai airport, the passenger suddenly opened the emergency gate of the plane and jumped out, security agencies were shocked.

Chennai: There was a stir at Chennai International Airport in Tamil Nadu when a passenger suddenly opened the emergency exit and jumped down from an aircraft running on the taxiway after landing. This strange act not only created tension in the airport administration, but due to security reasons many flights were delayed and some had to be diverted. The functioning of the airport also came to a complete halt for some time.

How did this shocking incident happen?

The incident occurred when Air Arabia flight (G9 471) had arrived in Chennai from Sharjah carrying 231 passengers. The Airbus A320 aircraft landed on the runway at around 3:23 am on Sunday. According to officials, the plane was still moving on the taxiway (the path connecting the runway and the terminal) when a passenger from Pudukottai suddenly opened the emergency exit door and jumped out.

CISF and bomb squad took charge

As soon as the passenger jumped, the pilot showed wisdom and immediately stopped the plane and informed the control room. In the blink of an eye, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, bomb disposal squad and armed commandos reached the spot. After a formal complaint by the pilot, security personnel entered the plane and took the passenger into custody. The arrested person has been identified as 29-year-old Mohammad Sharif Mohammad Najmuddin.

Mental condition or deep conspiracy? investigation started

During interrogation, Mohammad Sharif, a resident of Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, claimed that his mental condition was not good, due to which he took this step. However, the security agencies are not accepting this argument so easily and the matter is being investigated from every angle. Officials said that medical tests are also being conducted to assess the mental condition of the passenger.

Airport operations coming to a standstill

Due to this high-voltage drama, flight operations at Chennai Airport were affected for a long time. The aircraft was towed to the parking bay at around 4:25 am, after which normal operations on the runway resumed at around 4:35 am. At present, the accused passenger is in police custody and security agencies are investigating whether there was some other motive behind it.
