Ultra slim phone flops, shock to Samsung-Apple

The ultra slim smartphone trend is not able to survive in the market. Thinner phones from Samsung, Apple and Honor are facing weak sales despite the features, due to which companies are moving away from this design.

Ultra Slim Phone: The trend of ultra slim smartphones is not succeeding as expected. After Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple’s iPhone Air, now Honor’s Magic8 Pro Air is also struggling in the market. Despite providing powerful features and a large battery, there is less interest from customers, which is clearly indicating that users are not ready to adopt this form factor.

Cold response in the market despite thin design

Smartphone companies have been emphasizing on making thin and light phones for a long time, but the market trend seems to be the opposite. After big brands like Samsung and Apple, now Honor is also facing the same challenge.

According to reports, ultra slim phones are not able to attract customers, due to which their sales remain weak. The design may be premium, but thinness alone is no longer a priority for users.

Features are strong, still not successful

The company has given many such features in Honor Magic8 Pro Air, which are usually not found in slim phones. It features a large 5,500mAh battery and a 6.3-inch display, which attempts to address earlier criticisms—such as the small battery and small screen.

Despite this, this phone could not attract customers. According to statistics, only about 50,000 units have been sold so far, which shows its weak demand in the market.

Even big brands could not escape this trend

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also did not get the success as expected, after which Samsung has decided to discontinue this lineup. The company has indicated that it currently has no plans to work on this form factor again.

At the same time, the sales of iPhone Air were also much less than expected. Its share in total sales remained limited, which shows that even in the premium segment, slim design alone is not able to attract customers.

Signs of change in the strategy of companies

While Samsung has moved away from slim phones, Apple is still exploring possibilities in this segment. According to reports, the company may launch iPhone Air 2 next year, in which the shortcomings of the first model will be removed.

Experts believe that customers are now giving priority to battery life, camera quality and performance. In such a situation, slim design alone cannot guarantee success, and companies will have to balance their strategy.
