Center rejects Aadhar card design change claim, calls post misleading!
The Center issued a clarification on this saying that no such proposal is under consideration and also termed such claims as misleading.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT said in an official statement that the news and social media posts related to the change in the format of Aadhaar are wrong and are creating unnecessary confusion among the public.
The ministry said, “From time to time, such news and social media posts are coming in which it is being said that by the end of this year, the format of Aadhaar will be changed to just a photo and a QR code. This is not correct. There is no plan for any such change.”
The ministry further said, “Such news and social media posts are creating unnecessary confusion in the minds of people.”
The ministry has advised people to rely only on official information provided through channels verified by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and press releases issued through PIB and has urged media outlets not to promote unverified information.
This clarification comes amid rumors spreading online that there may be a major change in the Aadhaar card soon.
The government reiterated that no such decision has been taken and urged citizens to ignore misleading posts.
The statement is significant given the immense size and importance of Aadhaar, which has become the world’s largest biometric identification system.
According to the government, Aadhaar currently has about 134 crore users and has facilitated more than 17,000 crore authentication transactions so far.
Run by the Unique Identification Authority of India, the Aadhaar system plays a vital role in enabling identity verification for a variety of services.
