Compulsion or diplomacy? Pakistan approves Donkey Meat Export, decision reversed after dragon threat

Pakistan Donkey Meat Export To China: The government of Pakistan has once again completely surrendered to the huge pressure and diplomatic warning from China. A big Chinese company operating in Gwadar had given a strict warning to Pakistan to shut down its entire business operations. To handle this very serious and tense situation as soon as possible, the office of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself had to directly intervene. Soon after this, the Government of Pakistan hastily gave its final approval for the export of donkey meat to China.

This very big and important decision of Pakistan is a big step taken completely under heavy economic and diplomatic pressure. In fact, powerful China has always been considered the biggest and main trading partner of weak Pakistan which is deeply in foreign debt. This entire controversy related to the export of donkeys is mainly related to the long established and active Hangeng Trade Company in Gwadar. This big Chinese company runs a huge slaughterhouse in Pakistan and exports huge quantities of donkey meat and leather directly to China.

Huge delay in export approval

Gwadar is a very important port city which has always been considered as the largest and main hub of China supported major investment projects in Pakistan. Here for the Chinese company, there was a long delay of several months in getting the necessary government approvals related to the export of donkeys, due to which the company was very upset. This terrible delay by the administration has raised big questions on the huge bureaucratic hurdles that are adversely affecting the continuous flow of foreign investment into Pakistan.

Use of donkey meat in China

In neighboring China, donkey meat and its strong leather are mainly used to make a special type of expensive traditional medicine. This unique traditional medicine is commonly sold in the local markets of China to cure all the problems of people from blood related and chronic skin diseases. The demand for this special traditional medicine is always very high in China, due to which donkeys are continuously imported there in huge quantities from all over the world.

Neighboring country Pakistan, which is constantly facing severe economic crisis, directly exports about 216,000 donkeys to China every year for meat and leather. According to the latest official estimates released by the Pakistani government, this unique trade of donkeys brings huge earnings to the country’s treasury every year.

From this huge export of donkeys, Pakistan easily gets huge and wonderful revenue of about 300 million US dollars every year without any problem.
