LSG was stuck, this unknown player took over the innings, who is Himmat Singh?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted their highest score in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Monday (May 4). LSG, when invited to bat first against Mumbai Indians (MI), scored 228 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

Due to the stormy batting of Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh at Wankhade Stadium, LSG had scored 123 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in 8 overs. She looked to easily cross 250 but Corbin Bosch changed the story in the next over. Bosch dealt a blow to LSG by first removing Puran (63 runs in 21 balls) and then Marsh (44 runs in 25 balls).

Himmat along with Markram took over the innings

After the end of 9 overs, LSG’s score was 127/3. She had not even recovered from the shock of Puran-Marsh when captain Rishabh Pant (15 runs in 10 balls) and debutant Akshat Raghuvanshi (15 runs in 7 balls) also departed. By the time it reached 160, half of LSG’s innings had been reduced. There were still about 8 overs of play left. In such a situation, to take LSG to a big score, someone needed to spend time at the crease as well as bat fast and Himmat Singh did this job very well.

Himmat along with Aiden Markram made an unbeaten partnership of 68 runs for the sixth wicket. These runs came in 47 balls but this partnership rescued the situation in which LSG was stuck, otherwise perhaps it would not have been able to reach even 200. Himmat scored unbeaten 40 runs in 31 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Markram scored unbeaten 31 runs in 25 balls.
