‘Mamata Didi, what to do now?’ After the crushing defeat in Bengal, Waris Pathan gave great advice, said – ‘There is victory only after defeat’

The results of West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 have created a stir in the political circles. The fort of Mamata Banerjee, who has been in power in Bengal for 15 years, has collapsed this time. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a huge majority by winning 206 seats and is preparing to form the government. After this big defeat, while Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against BJP, AIMIM leader from Maharashtra Waris Pathan has given her important suggestions for the future.

What did Waris Pathan say on the allegations of election rigging?

After the defeat, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused BJP of ‘cheating’ and claimed that other central agencies including the Election Commission have been misused. Responding to these allegations, Waris Pathan said that the Election Commissioner is already being accused of selling out, on which the government should pay attention. He stressed that in a democracy, every election should be completely ‘free and fair’ so that public trust is maintained.

‘Gen-G’ voters and the options available to Mamata Banerjee

Waris Pathan paid special attention to the participation of youth in this election. He said that this time the ‘Gen-Z’ and first-time voters have voted in large numbers. If we talk about vote tampering and winning elections unfairly, it will have a bad impact on the new generation. He advised Mamata Didi that if she feels that there has been a disturbance, she has the option of going to court. According to Pathan, Mamata Banerjee should fight a legal battle.

Respect for the mandate and the mantra of ‘victory after defeat’

Describing elections as the biggest part of democracy, the AIMIM leader said that the public mandate is paramount and everyone has to accept it. Consoling the losing candidates, he said, “This is the way of life, there is victory only after defeat.” He advised Mamata Banerjee and her party to introspect as to what was the reason for the defeat. Congratulating all the winning candidates, Pathan said that efforts should be continued because only with efforts the path ahead becomes easier.
