New rule implemented at Red Fort! This work has to be done before going to Red Fort, otherwise entry will be closed
There is a very good news for the tourists visiting the historic Red Fort of Delhi. The entry process here has now become faster and more convenient than ever before. To reduce the problems of long waits and overcrowding, a modern turnstile gate system has been reintroduced, allowing tourists to enter by simply scanning a QR code.
Entry through QR code scan: New system implemented from May 1
Under this new system, which has come into effect from May 1, tourists will have to scan the QR code printed on their entry ticket on a special machine. Upon scanning, the gate will open automatically, allowing tourists to enter easily. It is expected that this digital system will make the entry process even faster and organized.
There were technical difficulties in the last attempt
Turnstile gates were first used as a pilot project in 2018-19, when they were installed on a trial basis at two gates. However, due to technical difficulties, this system could not remain operational for long at that time. Later, in 2022–23, the system was expanded to six gates; But due to the losses incurred during the farmers’ protests, it had to be closed completely.
System restarted to eliminate long queues
According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the number of tourists visiting the Red Fort is continuously increasing, due to which long queues often form at the entry gates. Previously, tickets were checked manually by staff—a time-consuming process that further increased congestion. To solve this particular problem, this smart system has now been relaunched.
Will help in handling crowd during weekends and holidaysr
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the Red Fort receives huge crowds of tourists, which earlier would often result in chaos. Under the new system, tourists will simply have to scan the QR code of their ticket after purchasing the ticket, which will significantly reduce the time taken for entry. It is expected that this initiative will not only help in managing the crowd effectively but will also improve the tourist experience.
