World number-1 team India remains on top in ICC T20 international rankings, Australia and England lag behind.

Dubai. Three-time World Cup winners India on Tuesday retained their top position in the ICC T20 International rankings while England and Australia remain second and third respectively. India created history in March by becoming the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title. Also, the team won this title for the record third time. India hosted this tournament along with Sri Lanka.

The ICC said on its website, “In the latest rankings, 100 percent weightage has been given to all the matches played after May 2025 and 50 percent weightage to the matches of the last two years.” ICC said, “India, which is on top with 275 points, has reduced its lead over England (262 points) by one point, while Australia has come closer to England in third place with 258 points.”

Two-time champions England have 262 points while one-time champions Australia have 258 points. There is no change in the positions of the top seven teams in the ICC T20 International rankings. New Zealand (247), South Africa (244), Pakistan (240) and West Indies (233) remain at their respective positions. However, Sri Lanka (221) has lost six rating points, slipping to ninth position.

Whereas Bangladesh (225) has moved up one place to eighth position. Afghanistan (220) is ranked 10th and the gap between it and Sri Lanka is very small. Zimbabwe and Ireland are ranked 11th and 12th respectively. “The United States, the emerging power of cricket in North America, has jumped two places to gain six points,” the ICC said. It has reached 13th place, leaving behind the Netherlands (14th) and Scotland (15th).

“Namibia remains at 16th position while Nepal (17th) and Oman (19th) have gained one place each,” the ICC said. They left behind UAE (18th) and Canada (20th) respectively.” ICC also said that the number of teams included in the rankings has dropped from 102 to 98 as Fiji, Gambia, Greece and Israel could not make it to the list due to failing to play the required eight T20 International matches in the last three years.
