The 48th match of IPL 2026 was a low-scoring match, played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This match took place on 5 May at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this match, Chennai defeated Delhi by 8 wickets. However, despite the defeat, Delhi remains in the race for the playoffs. With this victory, Chennai has strengthened its position a little further in the points table.

The decision to bat first after winning the toss did not work much for Delhi Capitals. Chennai bowlers looked dominant right from the beginning. Delhi lost 2 wickets in the powerplay itself and could score only 37 runs. After this, the team could not do anything special even in the middle overs. CSK innings
Chennai, chasing a small target, started very cautiously. In the powerplay, the team scored 44 runs losing 1 wicket. After this, the batsmen opened their hands in the middle overs. Between 7 and 15 overs, Chennai scored 82 runs losing only 1 wicket. Then in the death overs the team added 33 more runs without losing any wicket. In this way, Chennai achieved the target in 17.3 overs and scored 159 runs losing only 2 wickets. With this, CSK won the match by 8 wickets with 15 balls remaining.

Sanju Samson scored the highest unbeaten 87 runs for Chennai. Apart from him, Karthik Sharma also played a good inning of 41 runs unbeaten. Whereas for Delhi, Akshar Patel and Lungi Ngidi got 1-1 wicket. All the other bowlers were badly beaten.
Delhi Capitals Playoff Qualification Scenario
Generally 16 points are considered to easily reach the playoffs in IPL. However, sometimes teams with 14 points also qualify on the basis of net run rate. Talking about Delhi, after 10 matches it still has only 8 points. Now he has 4 more matches left. In such a situation, to reach the playoffs directly, Delhi will have to win all four matches, so that its total becomes 16 points.

If Delhi wins at least 3 matches then it will have 14 points. However, in such a situation the team will have to depend on the net run rate of other teams. On the other hand, if Delhi wins less than 3 matches then its desire for playoff will be lost.
