According to the new update of ICC, all the matches played after May 2025 have been given 100 percent weightage, while the matches played in the two years before that have been given 50 percent weightage. India has a total of 275 rating points in its account. England, which is in second place, has 262 points, which means India’s lead has marginally reduced by one point. At the same time, the Australian team remains in third place with 258 points.
India’s performance in T20 cricket in the last two years has been excellent. The team won both the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and did not lose any T20 International series during this period. This is the reason why India continues to remain on top.
There has been no change in the ranking of top-7 teams. New Zealand is at fourth position with 247 points, South Africa is at fifth position with 244 points and Pakistan is at sixth position with 240 points. West Indies have 233 points in their account and in the latest update, the Caribbean team is at seventh position. Bangladesh team is at 8th position with 225 points and Sri Lanka is at 9th position after losing 6 points.
An interesting change in the ranking was also seen regarding the US team. The USA team jumped to 13th position by gaining 6 points and has left the Netherlands and Scotland behind in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Italy’s cricket team also performed brilliantly and added 11 points and moved from 26th to 23rd position. In its very first match in the T20 World Cup, Italy surprised everyone by defeating Nepal by 10 wickets.
The total number of teams in the ICC rankings has now dropped from 102 to 98 as Fiji, Gambia, Greece and Israel could not play the required eight T20 matches in the last three years.
