West Bengal: BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari’s PA shot dead, indiscriminate firing after stopping the car
West Bengal Violence: A very shocking incident has come to light from Madhyagram in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. On Wednesday night, unidentified assailants shot dead Chandranath Rath, personal security officer (PSO) of BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari. After this incident, an atmosphere of fear and tension has been created in the entire area.

According to the information, Chandranath Rath was going somewhere in his car when the attackers started chasing him. As soon as the speed of their vehicle slowed down in Dohariya area, the attackers started firing rapidly. It is being told that about four rounds of bullets were fired, out of which three hit his head directly. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but doctors could not save him.

Another injured in the attack, treatment ongoing
Another person was also injured in this attack, who was immediately admitted to the hospital. At present his treatment is going on. The police is also investigating from this angle whether the aim of the attackers was only to target Chandranath or it was a big planned attack.
Political accusations intensify
Politics has heated up after this massacre. BJP has directly attacked Trinamool Congress (TMC) and termed it political violence. Newly elected BJP MLA Tarunjyoti Tiwari said that the party always talked about peace, but this incident has spoiled the atmosphere.

Police and central security forces surrounded the area immediately after the incident. In the video of the incident, the glass of the car is seen broken by bullets, which clearly shows the seriousness of the attack. Senior officials have reached the spot and started investigation and nearby CCTV footage is being scrutinized to identify the attackers.
Violence continues after elections
Incidents of violence are continuously coming to light after the election results in West Bengal. The situation can be gauged from the fact that so far around 200 cases of violence, arson and vandalism have been registered. Police have arrested 433 people, while more than 1,100 have been taken into precautionary custody. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has given strict instructions to the state administration to take immediate action against those involved in the violence. He has asked the officers of all the districts including Chief Secretary, DGP, Kolkata Police Commissioner to continuously increase patrolling and keep a close watch on the situation.
At present the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated. Police are trying to find out what was the real reason behind the attack and who are involved in it. In view of the tension in the area, strict security arrangements have been made to prevent any further untoward incident.
