Twin blasts in Punjab; Atmosphere of panic in Amritsar and Jalandhar
Two blasts in Punjab in the same night have created an atmosphere of fear and tension in the entire state. Security agencies have been put on high alert after these blasts that occurred within a few hours of each other in Jalandhar and Amritsar. Whether there is any connection between the two incidents is also being investigated.
The first incident took place in Jalandhar, where a scooter parked near the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters exploded. The blast occurred at around 8 pm. This sudden explosion created chaos in the area and spread fear among the people. According to preliminary information, this scooter belonged to a delivery boy, who got injured in this accident. The explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard far and wide and created panic in the surrounding area.
Police and security forces reached the spot immediately after the incident. The area was immediately sealed and the bomb disposal squad and forensic team started investigation. There is no clear information yet whether this explosion happened accidentally or was part of a conspiracy. However, security agencies have become more alert due to the blast occurring near a sensitive area.
A few hours after the Jalandhar incident, the second blast took place in Amritsar. The blast occurred at around 10:30 pm in Khasa area near the Army Camp. The local people got scared due to the loud sound of the explosion. According to some people, its sound was heard up to one to one and a half kilometers away. The surrounding buildings and walls also shook due to this explosion.
Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this Amritsar blast. But two consecutive explosions have created an atmosphere of fear among the people. After both the incidents, police, army and other security agencies have imposed strict surveillance and security arrangements in the area. Suspicious activities are being monitored.
The investigating agencies are investigating from various aspects to find out whether there is any connection between these two blasts. Especially the possibility of use of IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in these blasts cannot be ruled out, hence investigation is also being done from the angle of terrorist conspiracy.
These incidents have raised questions on the security arrangements of the state. Security has been increased in sensitive areas and people have been appealed to remain alert. The administration has declared the situation under control, but tension still remains in Punjab after these twin blasts.
