‘Alliance with TVK or else…’ 30 MLAs warned Palaniswami, pressure is on for alliance with Vijay’s party

Chennai: These days, huge internal instability is being seen in Tamil Nadu’s main opposition party AIADMK. The demand of many party MLAs for an alliance with Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has intensified, due to which the pressure on the party leadership is increasing.

Pressure from more than 30 MLAs

According to sources, more than 30 AIADMK MLAs are in favor of moving forward with TVK. TVK has emerged as the largest party in the recent elections, but it is 10 seats short of a majority. In such a situation, the discussion of forming government with the support of AIADMK is in full swing.

The party currently has 47 MLAs. Many MLAs believe that joining hands with TVK can prove to be the right strategy for future politics.

Legislative party meeting postponed

The important meeting of AIADMK’s legislature party was suddenly postponed. This decision has further increased speculations of deep divisions in the party. The MLAs demand that the party should help in power formation by supporting TVK.

Senior leader CV Shanmugam is said to be the main face of this turmoil. He has started trying to garner support for an alliance with TVK. It is reported that about 35 MLAs gathered at his house in Chennai. Shanmugam met party general secretary Edappadi K. Appealed to the top leadership including Palaniswami to reach an agreement with TVK to maintain its role in the new power system.

Now the decision is in Vijay’s hands

AIADMK national spokesperson Kovai Sathyan said that now the ball is in Vijay’s court. They will have to decide whether they want to run a five-year term alone or form a strong government with other parties. The Governor has also sought clarification from TVK on the number of MLAs.

This crisis in AIADMK is raising questions about the future of the party. If more MLAs join TVK, the party may weaken. Right now everyone’s eyes are fixed on the next step in this internal conflict.
