The decision of the toss proved costly

Batting scattered in powerplay

Punjab had a very bad start while chasing the target. Both the openers returned to the pavilion within the powerplay. Captain Shreyas Iyer was also out in the initial overs, due to which the team came under pressure. After this, Punjab never seemed to make a comeback in the match in the entire innings.

Hope ended as soon as Stoinis was out

Marcus Stoinis struggled to some extent in the middle order and tried to control the team, as long as he was present at the crease, there was hope for victory, but as soon as he was out, Punjab’s hopes were almost over.

Cooper Connelly’s century went in vain

Cooper Connelly batted brilliantly till the last overs and scored his first IPL century. He tried his best to make the team win, but he could not get support from the other end. Ultimately Punjab lost the match by 33 runs.

Record of most consecutive wins against one team on the same ground

With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved a historic achievement. This was their ninth consecutive win against Punjab at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Hyderabad has dominated this ground since 2015. The record of most consecutive wins against one team on the same ground is now in the name of SRH.

Chennai’s record left behind

Earlier this record was in the name of Chennai Super Kings, who had defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore eight consecutive times at Chepauk Stadium. Now this achievement has been registered in the name of Hyderabad.

Another special achievement

Hyderabad achieved another special milestone with this. This team has now become the second team to register the most wins against a single opponent on the same ground. On top of this list is Mumbai Indians, who have won 11 matches against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium.
