Xiaomi Smartphone: Xiaomi’s rise in India, record jump of 212% in mid-premium segment
Xiaomi on Monday announced that it has achieved a major milestone in India. According to the company (which includes both Xiaomi and Redmi brands), the mid-premium smartphone segment has recorded 212 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in the last three months.
The company also noted that this figure represents 2x growth, which has been achieved after Xiaomi’s shift from “volume to value” strategy. However, the company did not share actual sales figures or comparative figures from last year.
Record performance in the mid-premium segment
In the press note, the company said that this 212 percent YoY growth was recorded between February and April 2026. According to Xiaomi, the mid-premium segment includes smartphones priced between ₹35,000 to ₹50,000.
Impact of change in strategy
Xiaomi has attributed this success to its new strategy, in which the company focused on providing better value instead of launching more phones. The company says that now customers are giving priority to smartphones with better user experience and not just specifications.
