Shreyas Iyer praised SRH’s game

Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, scored 235 runs. The biggest innings for SRH was played by Heinrich Klaasen, who was given life by Punjab. Similarly, Ishan Kishan, who scored 55 runs, also gave life to Punjab Kings twice. The result was that Hyderabad made such a big score, which Punjab could not chase.

Shreyas Iyer said in the post match presentation, “I think the target was a bit high because we dropped a lot of catches in the beginning and we could have easily reduced their score by 30 to 40 runs. Because the wicket was getting slow and the cutter balls were also not hitting well. So we were not that effective in fielding, bowling and batting. I think they played excellent cricket and taught us to win the match,” Shreyas Iyer said in the post-match presentation.

Shreyas Iyer spoke even after 3 consecutive defeats

Punjab Kings had a winning start in IPL 2026. But then the team had to face defeat in 3 consecutive matches. In the post match presentation, Iyer further said, “I think we had a great start to this tournament and all the players were in a very good mood and their morale was very high. But obviously we have to go back and look at the things we didn’t do well in the last three games and make sure we come back stronger.”

Lots of praise for Cooper Connolly

Even though Punjab Kings had to face defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad. But Cooper Connolly batted brilliantly and scored a century, for which the captain praised him profusely.

Shreyas Iyer praised Cooper Connolly and said, “Connolly is fantastic. He has a great mentality and his personality on the field is something all players can learn from. Also, I think he is adept at scoring big runs in pressure situations. He has done that before and today was a perfect example of that.”

In the match played with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings players dropped 3 catches, which was a major reason for their defeat. However, Ishan Kishan got life twice and Heinrich Klaasen once and both these players batted brilliantly and took the score to 235. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer also looked disappointed with the performance of his players.

Iyer further said, “He was fearless and his approach against left-handed batsmen (Chahal) was brilliant. I told him to be aggressive, especially when the new batsmen came to bat because they were aggressive from the very first ball. It was very important to take wickets at that time. Unfortunately, we could not take the catch. I think that was the biggest setback for us in today’s match. But we definitely need to think about it and come back stronger.”
