Operation Sindoor: Congress’s sharp attack on the Centre, Jairam Ramesh said – America gave the credit of ceasefire to Donald Trump, but PM Modi did not refute

New Delhi. On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the Congress Party on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Modi government at the Centre. The party said that despite India’s extensive diplomatic efforts, Pakistan was not isolated at the international level, as it was after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Congress also alleged that on the contrary, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir received extraordinary warmth from US President Donald Trump.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on social media platform He claimed that this was possible due to the intervention of President Trump. Jairam Ramesh alleged that Trump repeated this claim several times later, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi never refuted it.

Cited Anil Chauhan’s statements

The Congress leader said that on May 30, 2025, in Singapore, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan had admitted that India had to suffer losses due to strategic mistakes in the initial phase. However, later by improving the strategy, the Indian Army launched precise attacks inside Pakistan.

Jairam Ramesh also said that on June 10, 2025, the Defense Attache of the Indian Embassy in Jakarta had admitted that India had to lose some fighter aircraft due to the sanctions imposed by the political leadership on May 7, 2025.

He claimed that on July 4, 2025, Deputy Army Chief Lieutenant General Rahul Singh had given a statement that Pakistan received deep help from China during Operation Sindoor. In addition to weapons and ammunition, it also included satellite imagery and real-time targeting support.

Congress alleged that despite this, the Modi government’s “soft stance” towards China continues. The party also mentioned issues like loss of traditional patrolling rights in Ladakh, record imports from China and relaxation of FDI rules.

Jairam Ramesh said that after the Kargil war of 1999, the government of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Kargil Review Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Subramaniam, which investigated the incident and made suggestions for the future. Congress indicated that a similar review was needed regarding Operation Sindoor.

It is noteworthy that after the death of 26 people, mostly tourists, in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, India had started Operation Sindoor on 7 May. The Indian Army had carried out air strikes on nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. After this, tension increased between the two countries, but after hotline talks between military officials on May 10, it was agreed to stop military action.
