Singer’s sharp attack on Thalapathy Vijay’s party: After the arrest of the worker, Chinamai Sripada said – ‘Everyone is the same’

These days, Thalapathy Vijay’s name is on everyone’s lips in Tamil Nadu politics. His party Tamil Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has surprised everyone by winning 108 seats in the assembly elections. But amidst this celebration of victory, a news has come out which has put a question mark on the image of the party. In fact, soon after the election results came, a party worker was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor girl. After this incident, famous South Indian singer Chinamai Sripada has opened the front and strongly criticized Vijay’s party.

Raising this issue on her Instagram account, Chinamai Sripada wrote that people who commit sexual crimes often look for places where they can get strength and escape from the clutches of the law. He directly attacked TVK and said that the party should have done proper background check before inducting anyone. Chinamai’s anger was more on the fact that if there are such people even within the new party claiming change, then what will happen to the safety of women and children?

Who is the accused and what is the whole matter?

It is being told that the arrested accused has been identified as Dinesh alias ‘Pambu Dinesh’. Dinesh is accused of sexually exploiting a 10 year old innocent girl. The victim’s family had lodged a complaint with the police this week, after which the police took action and sent her behind the bars. As soon as this news spread, Vijay’s party started being trolled on social media.

Chinamai Sripada further wrote in her post, “It does not feel good to say that ‘everyone is the same’, but when such incidents happen, the public is forced to think the same.” In fact, Vijay had founded his party on the promise of a corruption-free and safe Tamil Nadu, but within 48 hours of victory, one of his workers being implicated in such a heinous crime has become a big problem for the party.

Historic victory in elections, but far away from majority

If we talk about political equations, Thalapathy Vijay had formed Tamil Vetri Kazhagam party just 2 years ago. In this election, he fielded candidates on all 234 seats in the state, out of which he got a landslide victory on 108 seats. However, to reach the seat of power i.e. the post of Chief Minister, a majority figure of 118 seats is required. Vijay himself contested from two seats—Perambur and Tiruchirappalli—and won both places with huge votes.

Political analysts believe that even though the party is 10 seats short of majority, Vijay’s performance is no less than a miracle. Now everyone’s eyes are on what equation they create to form the government.

These days Vijay is not in the news only because of his political victories or controversies. His name is also being linked with famous actress Trisha Krishnan. Interestingly, the Tamil Nadu election results came on May 4, which was also Trisha Krishnan’s birthday. On the same day, Trisha first visited Tirupati temple and then went straight to Vijay’s house. After this meeting, speculations about their relationship have intensified on social media.

At present, the biggest challenge before Vijay is to wash away these stains on his party workers and garner the necessary support to form the government. Opposition from influential voices like Chinamai Sripada could harm Vijay’s ‘change narrative’. Now it remains to be seen what stand actor-turned-politician Vijay takes on this controversy.
