What is the correct way to apply sunscreen? Cream first or sunscreen first? Know the right way of skin care

In today’s busy life and pollution, the importance of skin care routine has increased a lot. To keep the skin healthy, we use many products, of which sunscreen is the most important. But often a big question remains in people’s mind that what is the right way to apply sunscreen? Should it be applied before or after moisturizer?

Actually, this is such a problem related to skin care that can spoil a good skin care routine. If you apply sunscreen incorrectly, even the most expensive cream can be ineffective. Experts believe that sunscreen is not just a cosmetic but a protective shield for your skin, which is very important to apply in the right order.

Moisturizer or sunscreen first? Know the correct order

According to skin care experts and dermatologists, if you use toner first after cleansing your face, then do that. After this comes the turn of moisturizer. When you apply moisturizer, it provides the necessary moisture to the skin and keeps it hydrated. Sunscreen should be applied only after the moisturizer is thoroughly absorbed into the skin.

In fact, sunscreen is considered the last step in your skin care routine (right before makeup). When you apply it over moisturizer, it forms a protective layer on the outer surface of the skin, which prevents the sun’s harmful UV rays from penetrating into the skin. If you want to wear makeup over it, start a few minutes after applying sunscreen.

Do not make these common mistakes while applying sunscreen

Most people focus only on the face while applying sunscreen, which is a big mistake. Sunlight affects all those parts of the body which are exposed. Therefore, along with your face, apply sunscreen on your ears, neck, hands, feet and even hair line. Often people forget about the neck and ears, due to which with time the skin in these parts starts burning and the complexion changes.

Another important thing is the amount of sunscreen to be used. People often apply very little cream, which does not provide complete protection. According to experts, it is necessary to take sunscreen equal to at least ‘two fingers’ (Two-Finger Rule) for the face and neck.

Is sunscreen needed indoors too?

Often people think that if they are not going out in the sun, then what is the need for sunscreen? But this is a misconception. In fact, if there are harsh artificial lights in your home or office, then these can also harm your skin. These lights can cause premature aging of the skin, just like the sun’s rays. Apart from this, sunlight filtering through windows also causes skin tanning. Therefore, whether the season is summer or harsh winter, never skip sunscreen.

For better results, apply sunscreen at least 15 to 20 minutes before going out in the sun so that it sets properly in the skin. Remember, there is no shortcut to healthy skin, only the right knowledge and regular care can keep your skin young and glowing for a long time.
