New Delhi. The race for the Orange and Purple Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is becoming exciting.
On Friday, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals, after which the position of some players in both the lists got strengthened, while on Saturday, many big changes can be seen in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans.
Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad remains at the top position in the race for Orange Cap with 494 runs. Behind him, Abhishek Sharma is in second place with 475 runs. Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul played an inning of 23 runs against Kolkata, taking his total score to 468 and strengthening his hold on the third position.
In Saturday’s match, all eyes will be on Rajasthan Royals’ young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi is at fifth position with 404 runs so far. Whereas Gujarat Titans opener B Sai Sudarshan is at seventh position with 385 runs and Shubman Gill is at tenth position with 378 runs.
On the other hand, the competition in the Purple Cap race also remains very interesting. Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Karthik Tyagi took his wicket count to 13 by taking two wickets against Delhi. He has taken eight wickets in the last four matches.
However, there is no change in the top five. Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings are at first and second place respectively with 17 wickets each. Bhubaneswar is ahead on the basis of economy rate.
Behind him are Prince Yadav, Kagiso Rabada and Ishan Malinga with 16 wickets each.
Special attention will be kept on Kagiso Rabada of Gujarat Titans on Saturday. Rabada has taken 12 wickets in the last six matches and if he continues his form, he can win the Purple Cap.
Joffra Archer of Rajasthan Royals is also firmly in this race. He has 15 wickets to his name and is not far behind the top players. In such a situation, the bowling of Rabada and Archer can decide the course of the match on Saturday.
