Suvendu Adhikari takes oath as BJP’s 1st Chief Minister of Bengal
Kolkata: Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the first BJP’s Chief Minister of West Bengal today. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Union ministers, and chief ministers of all NDA-ruled states are attending the swearing-in ceremony.
Earlier today, Mr Adhikari is elected leader of the BJP legislature party in West Bengal.

The legislature party meeting is held in Kolkata in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah. Presiding over the meeting, Mr Shah says that all proposals are received in favor of Suvendu Adhikari.
Following his election as BJP legislature party leader, Mr Adhikari meets West Bengal Governor RN Ravi and stakes claim to form the first BJP-led government in the state. The BJP registers a historic victory in the Assembly elections, ending the TMC’s 15-year rule.
Meanwhile, celebrations erupt in Chief Minister-designate Suvendu Adhikari’s hometown in Purba Medinipur and in his constituency, Nandigram, after news of his election reaches the district.
In Nandigram, victory processions with loud music move through different parts of the area amid the spraying of gulal and garlanding of photographs of Mr Adhikari, Prime Minister Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah displayed on e-rickshaws, autorickshaws, and other vehicles.
