Yashasvi Jaiswal stuck in trouble amid IPL 2026, NADA sent notice for DOPE test, sword hanging over this player too

Yashasvi Jaiswal NADA Notice: Amidst IPL 2026, the troubles of Rajasthan Royals opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and World Cup winning player Shefali Verma have increased. According to reports, Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has been issued a notice for “missing a test” for the first time by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). These notices have been issued due to people not being found at the designated places for dope test. Both players have been given an opportunity to explain and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also been informed about this development. This notice is the first case of “test miss” for these two cricketers included in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) of NADA.

NADA has sent notice to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma. Action has been taken against both the players under the ‘Whereabouts Failure’ rule. ‘Whereabouts failure’ is a rule related to anti-doping rules, under which athletes are required to declare where they will be present at a certain time, so that a surprise dope test can be conducted.

According to the notice, on December 17 last year, a Doping Control Officer (DCO) attempted to conduct a dope test on Yashasvi, while Shafali’s scheduled test was on November 7. But, both the players were not found at their stated places.

NADA later sought clarification from the players on 18 and 20 February respectively, but none responded, leading to their first missed tests being recorded.

What does the rule say?

Athletes included in NADA’s registered testing pool are required to provide a scheduled time and location for out-of-competition doping testing. Doping Control Officer (DCO) may come to collect samples during the declared period and failure to appear at the specified location may result in forfeiture of the test under anti-doping rules.

Will Yashasvi and Shefali be punished?

However, at present only a notice has been issued by NADA, because missing the test once is not considered a violation of doping rules. However, failing to meet the specified locations three times within a 12 month period may result in a doping rule violation. If a player is not successful in defending himself before the NADA hearing committee, he may have to face a ban of up to 2 years. However, Yashasvi and Shefali still have a chance to present their side.
