Vijay Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Oath Ceremony Details

Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), met the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu at Lok Bhavan on May 9, 2026and submitted a letter confirming his election as the Legislature Party leader.

He also presented letters of support from the Indian National Congress, Communist Party of India, CPI(M), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and Indian Union Muslim League, enabling him to form the government.

Following the submission, the Governor appointed Thiru C. Joseph Vijay as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and invited him to form the Ministry. The Governor has directed the Chief Minister-designate to seek a vote of confidence in the Assembly on or before May 13, 2026.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Nehru Stadium, Chennai, on May 10, 2026, at 10 A.M. This marks a historic moment in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, as Vijay steps into leadership with broad coalition support and a promise of change under the TVK banner.

This marks a watershed moment in Tamil Nadu’s political history, as Vijay becomes the first non-Dravidian leader to hold the CM post in 59 years. His rise reflects a shift in the state’s political landscape, long dominated by Dravidian parties.

While the oath ceremony is confirmed, speculation continues over the composition of Vijay’s Cabinet. Political observers note that his choices will be crucial in balancing alliance commitments and delivering on promises of change.

The swearing-in event is expected to draw massive public attention, symbolising both a generational shift and a new chapter in Tamil Nadu’s governance.
