Upcoming SUVs: Hyundai Motor is preparing to launch two new SUVs in the Indian market soon. The company has officially confirmed that these will include a new mid-size SUV and another compact electric SUV. Through these new models, Hyundai wants to further strengthen its hold in the Indian SUV market.
What will be special in the new mid-size SUV?
- According to reports, Hyundai’s new mid-size SUV may be based on the company’s new K3 platform. This platform is known for more space, better security and modern technology.
- The new SUV may be larger than the existing Hyundai Creta and is expected to have a more premium cabin. It can be provided with next-generation ADAS features, large touchscreen infotainment system and advanced safety technology.
- Creta is likely to get petrol and diesel engines in engine options. Also, for the first time, Strong Hybrid technology can also be seen in this lineup.
Competition will increase with new electric SUV
- The company’s second SUV will be a compact electric model, which is said to be codenamed HE1i. It is being developed specifically to compete with the Tata Nexon EV.
- To maintain low prices, Hyundai will manufacture most of its parts in India and the battery pack will also be sourced from local suppliers.
Battery and range
- The new EV SUV will be based on Hyundai’s E-GMP (K) platform, which is also used in the Hyundai Inster EV sold in the global market.
- The SUV is expected to come with two battery options—42kWh and 49kWh. These will include standard and long-range variants. According to reports, this electric SUV may be capable of giving a range of around 300 km to 355 km.
The launch of these new SUVs from Hyundai is expected to further intensify the competition in the Indian SUV and EV market.
