RR vs GT: Rajasthan Royals are continuously losing in Jaipur, will the boat sink in IPL 2026?
Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium was once an impenetrable fort of Rajasthan Royals (RR). On this ground, even the biggest teams used to bow before RR but now no one is able to break into this fort. Gujarat Titans thrashed RR at home on Saturday (May 9) night. This was RR’s third consecutive defeat in Jaipur in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Since the beginning of IPL 2025, RR has played 8 matches in Jaipur, in which it has won only 1. In the current season, RR has to play one more match in Jaipur. If she loses in this match also, it will be a ‘do or die’ situation for her.

RR derailed
Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, RR started the season with a bang. He had won his first 4 matches. Its batsmen and bowlers were making waves. But as the season progressed, the RR team started losing form. RR has lost 5 out of the next 7 matches after 4 consecutive wins, making its path to the playoffs difficult. The team currently has 12 points in 11 matches. To finish in the top-4, it will have to win at least 2 of its remaining 3 matches.
Poor performance of RR bowlers continues
The bowlers of IPL 2008 champion team RR seem to be out of rhythm. He has given away more than 220 runs each time in the last 4 matches. The effect of the poor performance of the bowlers is also visible on the batsmen. In the chase of 230 runs against GT, RR’s batting completely failed and the team was reduced to just 152 runs. RR’s regular captain Riyan Parag was not playing in this match due to injury. Yashasvi Jaiswal took command in his place. Yashasvi proved to be a flop with the bat in his first IPL match as captain and could score only 3 runs playing 4 balls.

Parag’s injury increases RR’s worries
Riyan Parag suffered a hamstring injury in the match played against Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 1. Parag had played an inning of 90 runs in 50 balls in this match and had returned to form. But he got injured at an important moment of the tournament. After the match against DC, RR got a break of 8 days but Parag was not fully fit and he did not take the field against GT. It is understood that he may remain out of action for a few more days. That means Parag is not sure to play in the next match also. If he does not achieve full fitness on time, RR’s boat may sink.
