Pm Modi Attacks As Soon As Vijay Joins The Government In Tamil Nadu Says Congress Betrayed DMK
After actor-turned-politician C Joseph Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, there has been a stir in the politics of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a major attack on Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government after the Congress formed an alliance with the DMK. PM Modi alleged that Congress has betrayed its long-time ally DMK for power politics.
TVK chief C Joseph Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. With this, he became the first leader outside the DMK and AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu since 1967 to take power in the state.
However, the path to victory was not easy. TVK emerged as the largest party in the state in the assembly elections, but the party could not secure an absolute majority. Vijay had to depend on the support of Congress, Left parties and other smaller parties to form the government. Before government formation, Vijay had also met the Governor four times within a week.
Regarding this political development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a scathing attack on Congress in a public meeting held in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru on Saturday. PM Modi said, “Today the image of Congress has become as a parasitic party and that is why it betrays even its allies whenever it gets a chance. Just look at Tamil Nadu.”

The Prime Minister said that Congress and DMK have had close political relations for the last 25 to 30 years. He claimed that many times the DMK saved the Congress from political crises and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government also remained in power for a long time because of the support of the DMK.
Taking aim at the Congress, PM Modi said that the DMK stood by the Congress in every “good and bad” situation, but as soon as the political equations changed, the Congress abandoned its old ally at the first opportunity. He said the power-hungry Congress changed its stand for political gains in Tamil Nadu.
This change in the politics of Tamil Nadu is also considered important because for decades, power in the state has mainly revolved around the DMK and AIADMK. Vijay’s entry has changed this traditional political equation.
BJP is terming this Congress alliance as opportunistic politics. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also reached Chennai during the swearing-in ceremony. Vijay could stake claim to form the government only after the support of leftist parties and other allies.
Now all eyes are on the floor test to be held in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, where the Vijay government will have to prove its majority.
