Hail at some places and storm at some places in UP: Monsoon like situation till May 15, yellow alert issued
In Uttar Pradesh, instead of the scorching afternoon and heat wave of Jeth, people are enjoying the rain and cool winds. The reversal of the weather in many parts of the state on Saturday (May 9) has surprised both scientists and the general public. While in the morning people were suffering from humidity and strong sunlight, by the evening dark clouds covered the sky and heavy rains drenched the entire state.
At the same time, the weather suddenly changed after Saturday afternoon in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow including Kanpur, Ayodhya and surrounding areas. After the morning humidity, strong winds blew at a speed of 40 to 60 km per hour. In many districts, it rained intermittently till late night due to which the maximum temperature dropped to between 31 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Know why untimely changes are happening?
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there are three main reasons behind this change. The effect of active disturbance in the mountains is visible in the plains. At the same time, the low pressure area formed in the Gulf is sending moist winds towards North India. The continuously blowing easterly winds increased the humidity in the atmosphere, after which clouds were formed.
There is also a possibility of hailstorm till May 15
The Meteorological Department has warned that this process of relief is not over yet. Rain with thunder and lightning will continue in many parts of the state for the next two-three days. There has been a warning of heavy rain and hailstorm in Lucknow, Barabanki, Unnao and surrounding districts. The department estimates that the wind speed may reach up to 60 km per hour and hailstorm may also occur at some places.
The administration and meteorologists have issued necessary guidelines for the public. Stay away from electric poles, trees and mobile towers during inclement weather. It has been advised to keep the harvested crop in safe places to prevent it from getting wet. At present, there is no hope of return of extreme heat (heatwave), which will provide relief to the general public.
