As soon as he assumed the chair, Thalapathy made a big blast in front of Rahul Gandhi, said – ‘There is no other power center except me’

Chennai: The suspense and ‘blockbuster’ drama that has been going on for the last four days in Tamil Nadu politics has finally come to an end. Superstar-turned-people’s leader ‘Thalapathy’ C. Joseph Vijay officially took oath as the Chief Minister on Sunday. The tone with which Vijay spoke in his first address immediately after taking oath has shocked everyone, from allies to opponents. Vijay made it clear that the command of power in Tamil Nadu would be in his hands only.

‘Only I will be the center of power’

After becoming the Chief Minister, Vijay made his priorities clear from the stage. Giving a strong message without taking anyone’s name, he said, “There will be no other power center except me. I will be the only center of power.” His statement is being seen as maintaining his independent identity in coalition politics and completely rejecting external interference.

Warning to opponents and called himself ‘Thambi’

In his address, Vijay described himself as the public’s ‘Thambi’ (younger brother), but his words also reflected a strict administrator. He clearly said that his government will not come under undue pressure from any ally party. Warning his opponents, he said, “I will not do wrong myself and will not allow anyone to do wrong with me. If anyone has wrong intentions in their mind, they should leave immediately.”

Called Rahul Gandhi ‘my brother’, expressed gratitude to his colleagues

Vijay addressed Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, present on the stage, as his ‘brother’. He thanked all the parties who helped in forming the government. Vijay especially thanked Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and state Congress leaders. Along with this, he also took the names of leaders of CPI(M), VCK and CPI and gave credit for the victory to his ‘virtual warriors’ (social media supporters).

‘I am not an angel, I am a common man’

Becoming emotional, Vijay told the public that he was not an angel but a common man like them. Asking for some time from the public, he said, “I will not make promises which I cannot fulfill. I have faith in you that together we can achieve anything. Just give me some time, I will gradually fulfill all my promises. I will not touch even a single penny of the public.”

9 veterans took oath in Vijay’s cabinet

Along with Chief Minister Vijay, nine other TVK ministers also took oath. The most surprising name in this cabinet is that of former AIADMK leader KA Sengottaiyan, who has worked with stalwarts like MGR and Jayalalitha. Apart from these, Vijay’s close strategist Aadhav Arjun, Raj Mohan from the film industry, dentist Dr. TK Prabhu and the youngest minister S Keerthana also took oath of office. There is news that leaders of Congress and other allies can join the cabinet after the discussion on portfolio distribution.
