‘From poverty to Chief Minister…’ Father Chandrashekhar became emotional as soon as Vijay became CM, remembered poverty and struggle.

Chennai: The entire family of Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay became emotional during his swearing-in ceremony. Especially the eyes of his father and veteran filmmaker SA Chandrashekhar became moist. Recalling the poverty and struggle of the old days, he said that today his son has become the Chief Minister.

While talking to journalists, SA Chandrashekhar said that Thalapathy Vijay was born in 1974. At that time he was an assistant director and the family had to struggle a lot to earn food. Chandrashekhar said, “I remember well those times when it was difficult to make livelihood arrangements. Today my son has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, I am proud of him.”

Father told the dream

Father Chandrashekhar further said that Vijay always keeps his promises. He told, “This was my old dream. My son made it a reality. If Vijay says something, he definitely fulfills it. It has been his habit since childhood that he speaks only what he can achieve.”

Proud moment for the family

Vijay’s niece Pallavi described this occasion as a very emotional and proud moment for the family. TVK MLA Maria Wilson said that the people of entire Tamil Nadu are happy to see their son and brother taking oath as the Chief Minister. Maria Wilson said, “We have been waiting for this moment for three years. Many people said it was not possible, but today that day has come.”

Vijay’s first address

In his first speech after assuming the post of Chief Minister, Thalapathy Vijay mentioned his simple background. He said, “I do not come from any royal or political family. I am the son of an assistant film director. I have seen and understood poverty and hunger closely.” Vijay further said, “I am one of you. You consider me your son, your brother and younger brother, that is why you have brought me to this point.”
