The special thing is that he will become the first non-Congress leader to become the Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive time. Many big faces of NDA including Prime Minister Modi will be present in this grand swearing-in ceremony to be held in Khanapara, Guwahati.

NDA is going to form the third consecutive government in Assam. The alliance of BJP, Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has further strengthened its hold in the politics of the state. Who will attend the swearing-in ceremony?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be present during the oath of office of the Chief Minister. Apart from this, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of 22 NDA ruled states and union territories will also participate in the ceremony. Which ministers will take oath along with Himanta Sarma?

Along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, four ministers will also take oath. These include leaders of BJP and its allies. Sarma himself announced the names of the ministers on social media platform X. The leaders who took oath include Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog. Atul Boro is the president of AGP, while Charan Boro represents BPF. Ajanta Niyog has been a minister earlier also. Rameshwar Teli has been a Minister of State in the Central Government and will now again play an active role in the politics of Assam.

Who will become the speaker of Assam Assembly?

Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced that former minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass will be made the NDA candidate for the post of Assam Assembly Speaker. He said that ‘I am also happy to inform that Honorable MLA Shri Ranjit Das will be our candidate for the post of Speaker of Assam Assembly.’

Before taking oath, Himanta Sarma gave a big message regarding the identity and land of Assam. He wrote on X that ‘There can be no compromise with the land, identity and future of Assam. After freeing 1.5 lakh bighas of land from encroachment, NDA 3.0 is now moving forward with a strong resolve to take back 5 lakh more bighas of land for the people of Assam. For us, caste (community), mati (land) and bheti (foundation) are first. He also made many big announcements for the youth and tea garden workers. Sarma said that the NDA 3.0 government will provide entrepreneurship assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh to 10 lakh youth.

Why is NDA’s victory in Assam considered special?

In 2016, BJP made a big entry in the politics of North-East India by gaining power in Assam for the first time. At that time NDA had formed the government under the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal.
