Celebrating 21 years of strengthening the country’s power sector
New Delhi. The regulatory forum celebrated 21 years of strengthening the country’s power sector with its 100th meeting at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Monday. Established in 2005, this forum played an important role in power sector reforms, tariff rationalization and policy coordination.
The Regulatory Forum successfully held its 100th meeting today at the Bharat Mandapam, a significant achievement in its journey of 21 years.
The ‘Regulatory Forum’, established in the year 2005, serves as a statutory forum, which brings together the Central and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions to coordinate and improve regulatory practices in the power sector.
The Ministry of Power said that over the years, this forum has conducted 71 studies, 55 capacity building programs, issued 25 model regulations and submitted 6 technical committee reports and 37 working group reports. These initiatives have contributed significantly to the development of the power sector in the country.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. P.K. Mishra, Dr. V. Ananth Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India and Shri Ajay Shankar, distinguished speaker of TERI, were present as the chief guests.
Jishnu Barua, Chairman, CERC/FOR welcomed the distinguished guests and members of FOR to the 100th meeting.
