Telugu actor Bharath Kanth killed in tragic ORR crash near Hyderabad
Bharath Kanth and a cameraman were killed in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Hyderabad after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in the early hours of May 10, police officials said on Monday.
According to police, the accident took place near Bonguluru in Telangana at around 3:20 AM when the car carrying the actor and the cameraman rammed into the rear side of a truck moving ahead on the ORR stretch.
Officials identified the deceased as Bharath Kanth, aged 31, and a 31-year-old cameraman who was accompanying him. Police said both victims died on the spot because of the impact of the collision.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the duo was returning to Hyderabad from Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district at the time of the accident. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including vehicle speed, visibility conditions and possible driver fatigue during the late-night journey.
Police teams reached the accident site shortly after receiving information and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. The damaged vehicle was later removed from the highway to restore traffic movement on the route.
The incident has sent shockwaves through sections of the Telugu film industry, where Bharath Kanth was known for his work in regional cinema and entertainment projects. Messages of condolence began appearing on social media soon after news of the accident emerged.
Road accidents on the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road have repeatedly raised concerns regarding speeding, heavy vehicle movement and late-night highway safety. The ORR, one of the busiest expressway corridors around Hyderabad, witnesses frequent long-distance travel and commercial transport traffic.
Police officials stated that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Authorities are also expected to review CCTV footage and other technical evidence from the area to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the collision.
The accident comes amid continuing concerns over road safety across Telangana and other states, with officials frequently urging drivers to follow speed regulations and exercise caution during overnight travel.
No official statement had been issued by representatives of the Telugu film industry at the time of publication, though several film personalities and fans expressed grief online over the sudden death of the actor.
Funeral arrangements and further details regarding the victims are expected to be announced by family members and close associates later.
