West Bengal: CM Shubhendu Adhikari distributed departments among cabinet colleagues
Kolkata, 11 May. West Bengal’s newly elected Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari also distributed portfolios among his cabinet colleagues, hours after the first cabinet meeting on Monday. Among these, former state BJP president Dilip Ghosh has been given the responsibility of Panchayati Raj Development Department, while Agnimitra Paul has been made the Women and Child Development Minister.

It is noteworthy that along with CM Shubhendu Adhikari, five other MLAs took oath on Saturday at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata in the presence of several BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. These include Dilip Ghosh, Ashok Kirtania, Khudiram Tudu, Agnimitra Paul and Nishith Pramanik.

Earlier, the newly formed government of West Bengal held its first cabinet meeting on Monday at the state secretariat ‘Nabanna’. After the meeting, the government prepared a detailed outline of administrative, security and welfare measures, including transfer of land to the Border Security Force for fencing the India-Bangladesh border and launching various social welfare schemes of the Centre, including the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, in the state.
