Municipality Recruitment Scam Case: Former West Bengal government minister Sujit Bose has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). ED has taken action against him on the basis of evidence revealed during interrogation. Officials said that during the interrogation on Monday, many important evidences were shown to Sujit Bose, after which he was arrested.
According to the ED, Sujit Bose had allegedly made illegal recommendations for 150 candidates for recruitment to various posts in South Dumdum Municipality. Besides, he had taken financial benefits in return. The investigating agency claimed that in return for helping in recruitment, Sujit Bose received several flats, which the ED has identified as proceeds of crime.

Also, ED has found evidence of huge amount of cash deposited in the bank accounts under his control and ED said that former minister of Mamata government Sujit Bose will be produced on Tuesday morning.
Let us tell you that on October 10, 2025, ED had raided 13 locations in West Bengal. These also included the offices of Sujit Bose and former Fire and Emergency Services Minister of West Bengal. During this period, ED had recovered many important documents and Rs 45 lakh in cash.
What is the whole matter?
Let us tell you that this matter is related to the alleged illegal recruitments in various municipal corporations and municipalities of West Bengal. The investigating agency had started investigation in this case on the basis of the FIR registered by the CBI on the instructions of the Calcutta High Court.

It is noteworthy that earlier in the year 2023, during the investigation of the primary teacher recruitment scam, ED had raided several locations associated with real estate developer and film producer Ayaan Seal. During this period many important documents and digital evidence were recovered.
